E-waste is electronic waste. In my city we have a recycling facility that breaks all the items into components and down to raw materials. They recycle over 90% of them items they receive. If you live in an area without e-waste recycling then it is considered hazardous waste and it is collected and stored. There are a variety of toxins and heavy metals in e-waste and they should never go into the landfill. You can get much more info about it at www.earth911.com just click on the electonics tab.
