Switzerland is the best country in terms of the highest recycling rate, followed by Austria and Germany.

Denmark has can and bottle recycling for cash in the grocery stores. For the things that you can’t get cash for like paper, cans and bottles bought in another country, appliances, furniture, electronics, ect there are recycling centers that people take their trash to and have it recycled. Paper is sometimes a curb pickup. There are public bins for things like newspaper and glass in every neighborhood. They also burn the trash and have a large magnet to pick out metal from the trash that runs on a conveyor on the way to the incinerator where the trash is burned for electricity, the heat produced is pumped to nearby houses and the smoke is scrubbed before being let into the environment. Any other countries do this??? I know America doesn’t.

Canada – they dump it in Michigan!

But really, my grandparents live in Canada and I have always know them to have free curbside recycling. I live in the Greater Lansing Area in Michigan and just recently a major trash removal company in my area has offered a free curbside recycling program for it’s regular trash removal customers, the company is Granger.

I believe strongly in recycling, the US government should finally spend our tax money on something that will benefit the environment and well being of Americans like free curbside recycling for every resident. Many people don’t recycle because of the cost, even if taking it to a center is free many don’t!

not sure which one is the BEST but i reckon australia is pretty much at the top. constantly improving the system to encourage the average household to recycle their waste by making it easier. For example, in the state of Victoria, they have implemented a system where there are 2 bins per household – one for waste and the other for recyclables… and you can combine pastics/glass/paper into the recycling bin which is convenient.
there are also lots of recycling bins around the streets, especially in the city, so that it reduces waste.
