Not sure whether I can be of help but I am recently back from working for 6 months in Tamil Nadu, South India. My experience was that for the majority of people who are so very poor, then re-using and recycling is the necessary way of life, this therefore would include building waste. Even builders working for rich people would re-use anything that they could. A high percentage of people are living in what might be described as ‘shanty towns’ where anything whatsoever available would be used to build including stones, bricks, concrete , doors, glass, plastic, oil cans, wood, banana leaves etc. from derelict buildings. Historically biuldings including palaces were looted. More to tell …………….
