The inside of the warehouse looks like a chutes and ladders game come to life, albeit noisier and definitely dirtier. An intricate maze of belts and screens sorts and organizes cardboard, newspaper, aluminum, plastic, plastic bags, yard waste and glass. Human sorting is also crucial to the process. Employees pull out items that weren’t sorted properly with the machines and, of course, the non-recyclables that people sent away in their recycle bins.
