Bottle bill update: Recycle – or it will cost you
Gov. John Kitzhaber has signed a bill revamping Oregon’s bottle deposit system. The bill includes a provision doubling the deposit on bottles if the recycling rate falls below 80 percent for two years in a row.

State files suit against Franklin Park recycler
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has filed a lawsuit against a Franklin Park waste recycler, alleging numerous environmental violations. State recycles 1 billion pounds of computer junk
SAN JOSE — Mountains of broken TVs, obsolete computer monitors and outdated laptops that once piled up in California’s garages, attics and basements have achieved a milestone. The state’s electronic-waste recycling program has reached its 1 billionth pound of unwanted electronics.
