Question by Xas: Biology 20 – Domed cities theory question?
Imagine that in the future humans lived in domed cities protected from high UV radiation. What would be the necessary conditions that must exist in this closed system for life to continue? What kind of dome would be needed, and how would the sources of energy, water, and carbon dioxide continue? How would recycling wastes works and how would nitrates and phosphates continue to cycle?
I’ve tried thinking up a million scenarios but none of the ones I’ve though of would work…

Lets say we were to build a big dome all the way around the earth and only blocked out all of the UV light. Everything would work pretty much the same. We don’t need UV light. We need other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, but for the most part, nothing would change.
