Question by Em.: Can I recycle stuff like empty cereal boxes and cardboard?
Im sure that they are ABLE to recycle it, but can I put it in with the plastic bottles and cans? If not, where would they accept it?
Thanks,

i am also wondering, where can I get biodegradable garbage bags for decomposable waste?

Yes you can recycle carboard and cereal boxes. No you cannot trash it w/ plastic and other stuff. A good thing to do is flatten the cardboard and boxes, and tie them with rope or those plastic strings (if you can find a BIG rubber band to hold all of it w/o it going to its alestic point, then that will also be good) Then find a local recycling programs, use yahoo maps or google maps. Type in “Local Area Recycling at (your zipcode)” then click maps. That should help. Thanks for enviormental help! ~ D.

YES YES YES, that is one of the first and easiest material to compost.
You can find out what your town or city allows by calling or go online to their site.

  • Robert S says:

    Yes.

You can get those bags at Home Depot or Lowes

Cardboard is recyclable, there should be collection points seperate to bottles and cans- They will also take old shoes in pairs, and carrier bags of old unwanted clothes

Worth shopping around for bags, look on internet too – they may not be totally biodegradable but at least you know your doing your best

    Regards Rebecca

It depends on your town. Check with them.

I take the cereal boxes and put them in paper bags. I place them on the curb next to the blue bin. I am reusing the paper bags rather than buying another product.
Also, most grocery stores sell the reusable bags. Also, amazon.com has lots of them that can be folded up into small packages to stick in your purse.

You can recycle cardboard in green recycling bins. They should say cardboard on it!As to your other question, I believe you can get decomposable bags in an environment friendly stores! I’m happy to see your recycling!

it all depends on were you live. For us if it fits into the blue box or is bundled up in a 2’X2′ square and tied up they will take it,it must also be on their list of acceptable items.Contact your local municipal office and get a list of all materials that are accepted at curb side ,who knows maybe there are more things you can recycle that you don’t know about.

Yes it can be recycled but do it separately and you ca n probably get some biodegradable bags for waste at the center where they have their waste management department for they might be able to help you .

  • ronald.glass@sbcglobal.net says:

Yes you can recycle boxes with your bottles. A brown paper bag is degradable if it is made from semi-bleached Kraft pulp. Most brown bags, (nearly 100% in grocery stores) are made from semi-bleached kraft that will degrade or can be recycled as well.

  • FamousNYLover says:

Cardboard boxes from cereals and snacks goes with PAPER BIN while Plastic Milk/Juice Cartoons goes to bottles with BLUE BIN.

  • Dave says:

    yes you can

  • Nathan B says:

some placesecycle cardboard but it depends on where you live if you can recycle them with your bottles and cans.

In some councils they are done together and others done separately. You may want to ring your local council to see if they do recycle cardboard and where. I know some places you have to take it to a recycling depo.

On biodegradable bags i have seen ones the size of shopping bags that some shops use. It may be an idea to just use these bags instead of actual garbage bags.

  • Red Rider says:

Of course. Throw it in with your other recyclables, like cans, plastic and glass bottles and paper. That is, assuming you have a single stream recyclable cart. If not, then put it in the paper bin.
Use paper grocery bags for the biodegradable waste.
