How much do you recycle or conserve in a given year?

Question by Pitybluesboy: How much do you recycle or conserve in a given year?
Meredith O’brien of Southborough, Mass. noticed her kids brought home a lot of paper from school- homework, announcements, permission slips, etc..
“I’d whine about it on my blog”, she said, “but this year I made up my mind to put some data behind it.”
So O’Brien cataloged and saved every piece of paper her three children brought home from school. One child being in 3rd grade and the other two being in the 5th grade brought home a total of 3800 pieces of paper, more than 1250 for each child.

Not counting the the untold number of papers “they forgot”, eh?

Gives new meaning to “save a tree, eat a beaver”!

Yes, the raping of Mother Earth is a crying shame. What a total waste. And so unnecessary, don’t you think??
I recycle ALL plastic (terrible stuff) and cans.

I recycle as much as I can. Anything that can go into the recycle bin will.

I’ve never counted every single thing I recycle. But generally speaking, I recycle as much as I can – our council provides recycling bags for different materials and then they collect it every fortnight. Such materials include plastics, metals, paper, cardboard, and clothing. I don’t recycle confidential paper waste though, I burn it instead.
