In the san diego you would call

if you don’t live near here then
call your local recycling center and ask them if they know somebody or themselves who takes it or
a scrap yard should take it
or a metal shop
hope this helps

I would take in to the shop for an estimate on repairs. At the service department for the major retailer I worked for there was an estimate fee but they would also junk it out for that if the estimate was refused.
There is a fee these days to dispose of any refrigeration unit because they have to recover the refrigerant and drain the oil from the compressor before they can be tossed.
Good Luck
