Emergency Services Team Up For Holiday Safety
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and South Walton Fire District (SWFD) have teamed up this week in an effort to provide residents, guests and visitors a safe holiday weekend.

Our Trail of Trash: Following 25 Tons To a Burning End
The sun was shining brightly at 7 a.m. at the Steamship Authority last week, and in the air was the smell of trash. Trucks were lined up waiting to fill the first freight boat to the mainland, including one tractor trailer carrying 20 to 30 tons of Island garbage. It was headed for Rochester, where trash is burned for electricity.

1Join Fayetteville’s All-America City award celebration tonight at Festival Park. Gates open at 6 p.m., followed by free apple pie and ice cream at 7 p.m. The N.C. Symphony will present a free patriotic concert at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics.
