Try Local second hand store for used clothes and bed linens these have been recycled and reuse fabric for project. Most second hand stores have alot of hidden surprises wait for the right buyer(most cost under $5 dollars)

I’ve seen clothes made from strips of woven paper (glossy magazine stuff is quite resilient). The same can be done with plastic carrier bags.

Try using the plastic bags….cut into strips and crochet away to make anything.
