Almost every person around the block is found holding a mobile phone either in their hands or in their pockets. In most cases, there are many people who cannot imagine a life without their mobile phones. That is the extremity of the mobile phone addiction amongst the common man. Before the use of mobile phones was a huge hit, life still did go on, but the situation now is such that everyone would admit that they feel like missing an integral part of their body when they find their mobile phone missing.

Not very long ago, mobile phones were considered as a luxury possession. But now, owing to the very affordable rates of hi-tech mobile phones, people at every nook and corner of the world, no matter how big or small their financial status is, own one or more than one mobile phones. Mobile phone companies keep upgrading their existing models and introduce more than a single model every year. No one wishes to be left behind in this fast moving world of ever growing technology. So it is natural for people to discard their old and used mobile handsets and buy new ones as per their requirements. Some buy phones owing to their various features that suit their needs and some buy them owing to the latest trend to be shown as hip and happening in the society.

In this process, one really forgets about what really happens to those old, used, discarded mobile handsets that are not of any use any more. In the excitement of getting to be the proud owner of a brand new handset people tend to throw away their old ones somewhere in the house or direct into trash. It is a practice that has not been noticed as something that needs to paid attention to. The fact is these mobile phones that are thrown away; create a huge bulk of unnecessary junk in landfills. They are made up of parts that do not easily recycle. They might also consist of chemicals that are harmful to the environment thus causing environmental pollution. As it is, the world is facing many such problems in the form of innumerous non-recyclable wastes that are accumulating and polluting the earth. Mobile phones have now been added to that list of wastes.

It is thus time to awaken ourselves and educate ourselves and each other on the hazards of throwing away the used mobile phones aimlessly. Instead, we are provided a very wise option of recycling the mobile phones. This can be done in many ways. There are many companies and organizations set up solely for this task. All you need to do is look for them on the internet and contact them to get your job done in a proper fashion. Alternatively, the used mobiles, if in working condition but just damaged on the outer body, can always be donated to charity and people of the third world countries who cannot afford to buy mobile phones. If you want to earn some money out of your used phones you can always auction it on sites like eBay or opt for exchange mobile offers where a small amount equal to the value of your used mobile is deducted while you purchase a brand new one. So, wisely take steps onto recycling your mobile and take a step ahead of others in saving your environment from unnecessary and destructive consequences.
