Is it ok to recycle bottles containing liquid?

Question by Ali M: Is it ok to recycle bottles containing liquid?
A while ago I started recycling my bottles and cans, and I was wondering, is it ok to throw bottles containing water for instance in the recycle trash? and what would probably happen if I accidentally threw some waste in the recycle trash, are there people responsible to make sure it’s all just recyclable things, or do they just throw it all along with the waste?

One last question: are fast-food restaurants cups recyclable too? like McDonald’s cups for instance.

where I live it isn’t okay to throw things in recycle bins unless they have been rinsed out,
and when waste goes into the recycle bin the people that take it away leave everything behind rather than leaving just the waste behind.
both carton and plastic cups are recyclable as long as they have been properly rinsed out.

No it’s not okay, you should in general rinse things out like milk jugs/ etc. Things like water bottles are okay not to rinse, because it had water in it before. But if you recycle bottles/jugs/etc. containing liquid you’re just making more work, and being unfair to those people who work at the bottle depots/ etc. around your city/and the world.

If you accidentally threw waste in the recycling then it wouldn’t be a big problem, only if you threw a lot of waste in the recycling would it maybe become a little more serious. The people at the recycling depots/etc. will just chuck it out in the trash if trash is found. Some places they fine people if they continually/or occasionally chuck large amounts of trash in the recycling.

And yes, fast food cups are recyclable. You should check with your city recycling program first. But where I live, they most definitely are.

Hope I helped! Thanks for caring about our world!! 🙂

Recycling is a better process to control the environment pollution

I think it has something more to do with common courtesy. How can you recycle left over water from a plastic bottle? Why would you put waste in the recycle bin when it isn’t recyclable? Why would you give the people already doing this job a harder time?

Most places don’t take recyclable bottles when there’s liquid inside, you have to empty the bottle then you can get a refund on it.

I don’t know if those places recycle their cups. Check their waste bins, if you see the recycle sign, then you’ll know. I think those cups are recycled material though.
