  • Joddle says:

My mum is the same and flatly refuses to recycle anything. However she will reuse the odd thing.

I don’t pressurise her into recycling but I do lead by example. For example, just today she opted not to buy disposable foil baking trays because she knows I have a problem with them = progress!

  • Michael is tired but still Ninga says:

Get them to watch “Pen & Teller’s bullsht” the episode on recycling!
it supports your parents and shows YOU why its a waste of time!

  • Peter J says:

Give them drugs and dull their senses and intellect.

It is a waste of time, if it weren’t a waste of time, you wouldn’t have to pay extra to have your recycling hauled away.

Jules… reduces taxation? What planet did that come from?

  • jules b says:

Even though JimZ has a point, and recycling will not necessarily save the planet it does save money and reduces taxation.

By recycling at source it reduces the cost of disposal by the local council/government. So tell them its good for low taxation.

  • Shannan! says:

    Give them statistics…
Like look up how many trees or something you can save if you recycle for a year, or how much energy you can save.

  • CaitlynV says:

just maybe you could write a report on the Information you find out about and tell them that plastic takes 1,000 years o decompose so i hope i helped a little sorry if i didn’t.

  • jim z says:

You should start listening to your parents. All children think they are smarter than their parents. They generally aren’t. If something is economical to recycle, it will be. If it isn’t, why are you so deadset against sequestering the carbon in a landfill? Too many people want to recycle so they can say “see I am doing my part.” It is irrelevant to them that it isn’t particularly useful in many cases.

  • penguins can fly says:

what’s so hard about recycling? you just throw recycled stuff into a box and you’re done.

  • theelous3 says:

Take everything they don’t recycle and dump it in your garden.
    (Hear me out lol)
They will inevitably want to get rid of it, when they do, ask them what the problem is, they’ll say that they dont want it in their garden, and you say
“Well it’s our rubbish, what gives us the right to dump it somewhere else? You don’t want it in your garden, and the majority of people dont want it going to waste in a general dump. The needs of the many outweigh your lazyness, so start recycling and pull your own weight.”

  • Brian says:

Research landfills and recycling and show them all the negative effects that nonrecycling can have.

  • Laura says:

Tell them that when you recycle can and bottles at your local grocery store you earn money.

  • Jai Ho :) says:

    your parents sound like assholes

  • Dan says:

wait till they get fined for not recycling?
