Question by Mokey: Recycling a Kleenex. Waste basket or toilet?
For recycling if i blow my nose with a Kleenex should i dispose the Kleenex in the toilet or the waste basket? Which is better for the environment?

Waste basket by a long shot. What goes down the toilet ends up in our water. You waste a lot of water flushing it. Then the sewage may be pumped many times before it reaches the treatment facility. Then it goes through a treatment process which uses a lot of resources.
If you trash it it may be burned to generate electricity or go to a landfill where it will compost. Many landfills now have gas wells which are producing electricity.

Depends on your recycling program. If your community has a composting program you can usually recycle them with food waste, diapers, cat litter and more.

    Check your local recycling program.

You should stop using Kleenex! That company prides themselves for using virgin timber. Old trees that have to be cut down to make a snot rag!!!

Switch to recycled paper products or use cloth handkerchiefs. The cloth ones are much more classy.

Trash it, don’t flush it. And switch to something other than Kleenex.

Waste basket. When you put it in the toilet you are more likely to flush which is a waste of water. Anything that goes into your toilet or down your drain has to be fished out when it gets to the waste treament plant and ultimately winds up in a landfill anyway.

If you really want to be a friend to the environment use cloth hankies. Organic cotton would be best.

Each house has its own unique situation. Are you city septic or septic tank or field septic(yes some spread sewage on fields and plow it in). Where does your water come from and where does it go if you do not use it. Can you combine your Kleenex with other waste before you flush. Colleens answer is best, but you must take into account your particular situation, there is no one answer fits all.

i used to put them in the potty because of germs, then my mom said she read they are not as biodegradable as tp. so now we blow our noses with tp, and only flush with other use

trash it. but you should consider a hanky.

Waste Basket. You waste water that way and i have found that Kleenex dont flush down the toilet very good compared to the way toilet paper does
