The first step towards recycling waste is to begin segregation of the waste at home. However recycling an be an expensive process in some cases and it is best to reduce and reuse. Another thing that you can do is to conserve and recycle water. Simple things like turning off the faucet when you brush your teeth, taking shorter showers can save many gallons of water per day. you are the beginning, you have to sort your trash at your home, before it is sent to a land file and spends the next 70 years just wasting space and polluting the ground water.

  • ExchangeForGreen says:

you can try to post your items on the website for either giveaway or exchange with someone else. there is no waste if you do this way. and you can also get something you like by exchanging with someone else, such as old books, school stuff, stuff in the basement and garage. here are sites you can use –

  • MICHELLE says:

The first step in recycling is to not buy as much stuff. 99% of what we buy is discarded within six months. Don’t purchase disposable items that are bought for the sole purpose of using it once and throwing it away. Buy items with less packaging. The “Story of Stuff” details consumption from extraction to disposal in a 20 minute video.

  • Joel says:

starts at home with trash can, then neighborhood trash guy, then it goes to the dump to be sorted(trash and recyclable) then goes to plant.

  • Hope says:

It would start at the home, then the neighborhood, then the plant.
